Meet the Physicians

Dr. Carlos  Rivas, M.D.

I was born in San Juan, PR where I attended UPR. While there I received an associates degree in emergency medicine and a bachelors in Chemistry and Biology.   I joined the US military in 1980 and retired from US Navy in 2004.  I received a naval scholarship to attend medical school in Missouri.  I graduated top of my class in 1993. I did my residency in family medicine with an Emergency medicine track at LSU in Louisiana.   Once I finished I practiced both family medicine and emergency medicine in rural WV and Arkansas for 14 years before moving back to Missouri. I have worked as an ER physician throughout the bootheel of MO including Sikeston, Poplar Bluff, and Perryville while also remaining an active member of med stop family as medical director.   I reside here in Cape Girardeau with my Wife, Tamara, 6 children and my mother.   I am determined to provide the very best medical attention and care to all of my patients from newborn to geriatrics.  It is an honor to serve you as your doctor and friend in this community.

Lisa Kail,  MSN, APRN, FNP-BC

I am married and my husband is retired. We have four children that we have raised together and now share 7 grandchildren. I've lived in the Cape Girardeau area for most all of my life.

I attended Cape Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University, where I received my first nursing degree in 1995. I've worked at many different types of nursing positions, increasing my healthcare experience and continuing my education to achieve higher nursing skills and degrees. I've been a nurse, then practitioner, for 19 years now. I absolutely love what I do, and at end of each day, what gives me the greatest satisfaction is helping and healing my patients...it's always been my calling. My patients always tell me that I am easy to talk to, and that I listen to them. I think what makes me different than some, is that not only do I care; but I care enough. I care enough to listen to my patients.

I care enough to do all the work that is necessary to diagnose and treat my patients to the best of my abilities. I also care enough to explain to my patients what they need to know, and to stop and care long enough to answer their questions.

I've joined a team at MedStop One who all share that same caring qualities....I've found my home. I welcome the opportunity to meet and provide anyone who needs our help, the very best quality care you'll find anywhere.
